New COE VPN Available

The College of Engineering Information Technology Shared Services team is happy to announce the general availability of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service.  Many of you have already taken advantage of this technology on a trial basis, and it is now ready for usage by all Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Researchers.   ITSS is utilizing a VPN from Palo Alto Networks that connects your home computer or laptop from anywhere in the world securely to Engineering’s computer network so that you can utilize all of the software, storage, and services as if you were on-campus.

Detailed instructions on installation of the software on your computer and usage can be found at http://technology.engineering.ucdavis.edu/services/network-services/virtual-private-network-vpn-service/

If you wish to further understand VPN technology, here is an excellent, however long, article http://computer.howstuffworks.com/vpn.htm

If you have trouble connecting to the VPN, please contact your departmental technical support for further assistance.
